Sofonis: Lawyers do what they do mostly to help people. However, like everyone else we have bills to pay! So...generally, we handle cases in different ways. Most common, bill an hourly fee for what you do. Second option, contingent fee. If you win, you get a portion of the verdict/setlement. There are also barter arrangements - but I'll leave that for someone else to explain.
