Hey Ruth,
Some medical opportunities you can look into would be becoming a medical scribe, CNA or a receptionist in a doctors office.
Either of these paths would give you hands on experience with patients but also allow you to gain experience working with a healthcare team.
Doing research on what type of program you want to be a part of and seeing requirements can help you stand out is also important.

No matter your age or location, there's a world of opportunities waiting for you! If you're someone who loves a bit of action and gets a kick out of helping others in their time of need, why not consider joining or volunteering at an EMS agency? Some places even let you start as young as 16 or 17 years old. To get started, you might want to explore a CFR or EMT-B course.
On the other hand, if a conventional career path is more your style, you could think about shadowing or working as a medical assistant in a doctor's office. Many of these offices are happy to take on eager pre-med students or volunteers, teaching them the ropes of working as a medical assistant. It's a fantastic way to rack up those patient contact hours and get to grips with medical lingo and procedures.
And if nursing piques your interest, there's a wealth of opportunities for those keen to work as a CNA or HHA. Agencies are always on the hunt for qualified candidates, so it's worth checking them out.
Here's wishing you all the best on your exciting journey!
