Kimberly’s Answer

Deciding on your career path is a very big and important decision. I would start out by making a list of all the skills you have such as listening, attention to detail, are you observant, health conscious… all the traits you have that may point to a specific field once you narrow it down. You may also find more than one field of study you’re interested in. Once you’ve made a list, read up on what jobs are available in your field of study. Would they be a steady income or unpredictable? Would the outcome make you feel productive and goal oriented, or just a job to make money. Is there possible career growth or would it be a single job til retirement? Also think about where you want to live, the cost of living, and if job prospects are well available or needed elsewhere. And, what are your gut instincts when you think of the career you feel qualified for. Make sure it is something you feel would be a good investment as far as time and money well spent. As an example, I myself enjoy writing fiction and news type articles. I love how the English language can be used and tell a story. Because of this and the traits I have that I feel are important, I am now majoring in communications at a four year college with many prospects of job opportunity. I feel the time and money are very valuable, crucial, and being used wisely.
