Hey Keira! When I was in your shoes, I launched a dedicated Instagram account to showcase my art and announce fresh creations - it was a fantastic, relaxed way to market my pieces and inform my friends about my budding venture. This platform enabled me to spread the word about my work electronically. So, I'd suggest that your initial move should be promoting your work - be it via social media or any other method you're comfortable with. Next, rather than opting for Ebay, I'd suggest exploring Redbubble or Etsy. These platforms are incredibly user-friendly and offer a wide array of mediums. If you're just starting out or don't have a large collection of original work, consider digitizing your art into prints - this way, you can distribute widely while creating more pieces. Another engaging approach is to participate in street sales or markets, where you can exhibit your art and engage with potential buyers. I gave this a shot once and it was a huge hit, particularly since I was your age. People have a soft spot for supporting young artists, and this can really work in your favor. I hope you find these tips useful!
Market your work (i.e., social media, flyers)
Get your pieces out on the market (i.e., ecommerce vs. street sales)
Consider scanning pieces for mass-sales

Selling artwork at fourteen years old can be both rewarding and challenging. Here are some steps you can take to start selling your art:
1. **Create a Portfolio**: Compile your best artwork into a portfolio. This can be a physical collection or a digital one. Ensure your portfolio showcases a variety of your work to demonstrate your range and style.
2. **Use Social Media**: Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest are excellent for sharing your art. Post regularly, use relevant hashtags, and engage with other artists and potential buyers to build a following.
3. **Join Online Marketplaces**: Websites such as Etsy, Redbubble, and Society6 allow you to sell your artwork directly to customers. You may need a parent or guardian to help you set up an account since you are under eighteen.
4. **Local Opportunities**: Participate in local art fairs, school events, or community centers that allow young artists to sell their work. These venues can provide great exposure and sales opportunities.
5. **Commission Work**: Offer to create custom artwork for friends, family, and their networks. Create a price list for different types of commissions to make it easier for potential customers to understand your offerings.
6. **Art Classes and Workshops**: Taking part in art classes or workshops can improve your skills and provide networking opportunities with other artists and potential buyers.
7. **Create a Website**: With the help of a parent or guardian, create a simple website or blog to showcase and sell your artwork. Include an "About" page, a gallery of your work, and contact information.
8. **Pricing Your Art**: Research how other young artists price their work. Consider factors such as the cost of materials, the time spent creating the piece, and the market demand.
9. **Legal and Financial Aspects**: Make sure to comply with any legal requirements for selling goods in your area. Discuss with a parent or guardian about setting up a way to manage any income you earn, such as a bank account.
10. **Networking**: Connect with other young artists and join art clubs or groups. Networking can provide support, inspiration, and potential sales opportunities.
By following these steps, you can start building a presence in the art community and begin selling your artwork successfully.

Creating artwork to post on social media and earn extra income is a great idea. You can set up accounts on platforms like eBay or Instagram to showcase your work. However, making money from selling your artwork online won't happen immediately. First, ensure that your artwork is impressive enough to attract buyers. So, what makes a piece of art impressive? The key is to develop your drawing skills and creative thinking, continually pushing your creativity. This process takes years, not just a few months, to master. My advice is not to rush into creating art solely for financial gain. Focus on creating art that brings you joy first. Remember, everything in life takes time.

Hi Keira, my daughter also got into selling her art around the same age.
She started selling her art to Family and then Friends. Simple things but something someone would wear or put on a shelf or wall. She tried many different mediums, from painting to using resin to create molds or cover paintings.
Next she created an Etsy page to sell her art on line.
Then she setup a Facebook market place.
Finally she began participating in local art and craft shows. There are a lot of craft shows around the holidays. Our local ones shows have fees. Some are more affordable than others.
I encourage you to explore each of these avenues. Take a look at what's already out there, and then decide what you think would suit you best. Remember, this is your journey, and you're in control of shaping it.
