How many accredited higher education institutions are there in united states? #spring24

I'm so much curious to know because sometimes I get confused between 1000 to 5000 institutions

https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/search/viewtable?tableId=35945 says there are almost 6000. That includes public and private as well as for profit and non-profit.
