In writing, there is bad, good, well-done, and outstanding. Most are content with good, but if you're serious, aiming for outstanding is the only road to take. Writing a good paper may take x amount of hours, but an outstanding paper will take ten times that effort, not because it will be a bigger paper, but because of the time spent in analysis and rewrites and more rewrites. This article gives the basics:

You mention journalism in your hash tags. Are you planning to create your own news publication? Or are you thinking of writing for a newspaper or online news site?
Either way, if you are still a student and not about to graduate, consider writing for your student newspaper or news site. This will give you some experience with what is involved.
If you want to write for a newspaper or online news site, check how they accept content. Do they use content only from their staff? Do they purchase from independent people? What sort of content do they cover - and where could you add value?

The first rule for any writer is to practice free writing first to really fine tune your skills. I reccomend doingbone free write a day. This will help you strengthen your literary tools no matter what kind of content you write.
This brings me to the next component in wanting to write a publication. The next step would be to identify what exactly you want to write. You mention english and also journalism in your hashtags so I assume you want to do a mix of literary, analytical but also realistic and investigative. No matter the piece always have a focul point structure and focused aimed audience you are writing to. Also remember to see samples in the area of writing you want to focus on. For journalism for example search up muckrakers or well known journalists, watch and read up on how they structure their research, their knowledge and their writing and then find a style thst fits you! For literary writing that you would want published, look up magazines, zines, self publishing sources and analytical work to draw inpuration from or to know where to start. Again reading and then getting in the practice of doing it yourself when it comes to writing will help you fine tune what you have to say as a writer. For the New York Times publications analyze and maybe annotate some published articles and study content structure and voice. Researching a topic of interest then writing about it by yourself after doing some informative research should be useful in skill building and finding your unique voice! Follow that up with building a network, putting together a portfolio so you can eventually actually publish something!
Best,

First, you should know about your audience and who you want to read your publication. Do some research on the publication demographics and then use some brainstorm techniques to develop themes and create topics off of each theme, using outline or knowledge tree techniques to break down bits of information until it resonates with you.
Some of these thematic bits can be strewn together if the ideas start to form the same conclusions, but you're going to create a stronger inner voice regardless. You could also try mood boarding, but the creative process really always end up being what works best for you, in your situation and by your means.
By means, that's the technology you will use and also how media outlets receive and use your publications. Of course, the receiving end will have more resources and better technology, so you're always going to need to keep the audience in mind. Whatever technology you use becomes an asset.
These factors may all change, so you'll also need flexibility to work quickly if you've reached deadline driven work. Use technology for research, but of course you are the writer so your personal experience and perspective is what readers will end up wanting. It takes a lot of balancing and of course determination to withstand scrutiny.
Create designated time to work
Stay on focus with your goals
Don't get easily discouraged by challenges
Prepare the materials however your creative process seems to fit
Enjoy the writing process
