You can major in anything in college. Most pre-med school students major in bio or chem, but anything is acceptable.

You do need med school. An anesthesiologist is an M.D., so that means med school. There is also a certified respiratory nurse anesthetist. They would work under the direct supervision of an anesthesiologist, and do much of the same work.

You then need several more years of training after med school to become an anesthesiologist. A quick google search would find you plenty more information.

A Bachelors degree usually in science. You can major in anything you want but be prepared to take a 5th year to have the prerequisites for medical school. 4 years in medical school. Then 4 years of Residency in Anesthesiology. This is a total of 12 years after high school. If you take as many AP classes as possible in high school you can reduce this to 11 years. Try and take AP Biology, Chemistry and Physics because these are the prerequisites for classes you will need in college.

Sure, you'll need to attend medical school and complete a 4-year residency, which is essentially paid training on the job. The first step is to enroll in a 4-year university known for its impressive medical school acceptance rates. You can find this information by checking with the university's career services or admissions office.

Although it's not mandatory, it might be beneficial to major in a science field. This is because there are certain science courses that are required for medical school applications. If you don't major in science, you might find yourself with a heavier workload as you'll have to squeeze in these science courses alongside your major's requirements. I personally chose Biology as my major because I enjoyed it and it covered all the prerequisite courses for medical school.

If you're currently in high school and considering a career in medicine, it would be a good idea to discuss this with your guidance counselor. They can suggest colleges or universities with strong programs for students interested in healthcare careers, such as medicine, physical therapy, nursing, or even scientific research.

Another useful resource is your local medical society. You can reach out to them and request to shadow an anesthesiologist for a few hours to get a feel for the job.

Lastly, you might want to explore the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) website. It's packed with information, although it might take a bit of time to navigate. Here's a link to one of their pages: https://students-residents.aamc.org/choosing-medical-career/medical-school-101.

Anaesthesiologist is a post graduate specialist after acquisition on MD Medical Degree or MBBS.
One needs to have a medical degree..which takes 5-6years then proceed for a 1 year internship then about 2-3 years medical residency then you can be eligible to go for a Masters post graduate in Anaesthesia which can take about 4 years thereafter you will qualify to become an Anastheologist.
Basically for one to have an MD you need to have done science majors in your high grade the proceed for a science based bachelors degree that takes about 4 years .. the after you can apply for MD program..that will take about 5 to 6 years.
