Should I still try and get the careers I want? how could I cope with the stress?

I wanna work in a career that helps people but the responsibility of someone's life/health is a lot and makes me hesitant to follow the careers I want like working as a pediatrician or law enforcement. I don't wanna make a mistake or miss something and be painted as a bad doctor/LEO.

Hello, Nina !

Nina, you are very smart, intuitive and I would like to give you some advice. It's good that you have recognized your capabilities and now it is time to really focus on your abilities and interests. Thinking about a career "that helps people" could mean anything and it doesn't have to be the medical field. There are so many emergency or stressful things that happen at any workplace at any given time. Have you considered the less hectic fields which still do help people ? There are many.

Some of the helping careers have very little to no vicarious trauma involved. You can go very far and have a very satisfying career, depending on where you work. So many careers came to my mind and I will share them with you so that you can know that you can still help people and not be in a stressful environment. Some of these careers to consider would be Nutritionist (in private practice having your own business, not in a hospital or nursing home which are Dieticians), Certified Massage Therapist, Yoga Instructor, Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, having a monetized platform instructional Channel, Tutor, Personal Stylist (Fashion), Proofreader (online or on site), Librarian, any computer science career, Medical Records Technician, Landscaping and I am sure there are many more. Make a list of what things you do not like on a job and what you do like and that may be a way to choose a career that has very little stress. Do not stop yourself just because you are worried about how the job will go. Give it a lot of thought, be very true to yourself which you are already doing and you will be inspired with ideas of what would be the ideal career for you.

I hope that this is helpful and I know you will select a career path that will have you helping so many people and making a difference in your community ! Best wishes in all you do !
