What else should I add to my career to do list? ?
I want to be in the medical field starting off as an emt/ paramedic then work my way up. Some steps I need to take would be studying really hard, join class that spark the interest and research. What else should I do??

My local community has started doing “citizens academies” with the fire and police departments. You could start with a program such as this to help gauge your interest. Good luck!

Depending on your previous exposure or courses completed, I'd recommend starting with a CPR class, and perhaps a first aid course. If your sights are set on the emergency medical arena, then becoming an EMT and gaining national certification will be a significant milestone. In NY, both paramedics and EMT-As are in demand, but they require additional training. You might also consider aligning yourself with a fire department, as they often collaborate closely in providing emergency services. (Fun fact, I was among the pioneering paramedics in NYC/NYS, back in the day). It's crucial to determine if this is the career path for you, whether you aspire to be an ED RN, a flight RN, an emergency physician, or explore other emergency-related fields. The decision must resonate with your passion. The field offers numerous personal and professional rewards, along with its fair share of challenges and stress. However, those who are passionate about it wouldn't dream of doing anything else.

Just start, is there any way you can "shadow" an EMT or Paramedic?
