Hi! Depending on where you are in that journey, the path will vary. If you're in high school, concentrate on courses in math and science and do some research into the various fields of Healthcare. Assess your interests, talents and abilities and see where they align with the various opportunities. Do you enjoy being involved with people or prefer working solo and being the scenes? Are you drawn to emergency situations or more calm and steady ones? Concentrate on getting good grades and serving in the community to be a viable candidate for whatever college or higher degree you're seeking. The medical field is wide open and very rewarding. Best to you!

One better way to prepare yourself self for medical school is either by being a volunteer in a hospital set up or in a care home as it will help you develop passion for medical careers in future.
Some people start as CNA or CMA medical assessment..to help them prepare for future medical school.
Which is also a good idea

Hi Riana! A couple thoughts on how to prepare for a career in healthcare:
1. Academics - Ensure your course load has a heavy dose of biology, chemistry, and public health courses
2. Work - The best teacher is real world experience, search for entry level job opportunities in the healthcare industry. Most entry level clinical positions (ex. CNA) require some level of certification, so consider other roles in a healthcare organization that can give you the lay of the land (e.g. registration, patient transport, house keeping, dietary services, etc.).
3. Volunteer / Shadow - Sometimes the best opportunities to learn are through shadowing and volunteering, many folks in healthcare are more than willing to let someone shadow them for a day!

Dedicate yourself to your studies, regardless of the subjects you choose. Consider engaging in volunteer work whenever you can, as it not only enhances your applications but also boosts your self-esteem. Your academic journey should encompass areas like science, math, psychology, basic computer skills, and elective subjects that spark your interest. Keep up with your extracurricular activities, whether they're inside or outside of school, as they're an integral part of your education and personal growth. All these experiences will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful career in the medical field. Remember, learning is not just about academics, it's about life too!
