How can I get a health-based internship as a rising senior in high school with my NHA CCMA certification?
Is it possible to do something online? Or any opportunities to use this knowledge?

To begin, such accomplishment is astounding, congratulations.
If you want to look into internships, I would recommend STRIVE NY. They are an organization that has a lot of health based internships as of late.

Congrats on your certifications!! These are a proven achievements of your hard work and diligence. I would suggest that you apply as nursing home or a hospice location. You can gain experience here. This is what I did to gain entry in healthcare. It gives you lots of opportunities with administration and I believe it is a good entry position to see what kind of healthcare you would like to provide as you will be a caregiver or map. Best of luck!!
I'll look into nearby hospice locations for sure. Thank you Mr. Evans!

The answer provided by the other medical advisor, contains great advice. As a physician, I would suggest deciding on the field in which you're interested, if you know that, and search online for medical practices in your area in the related field.
It would then reach out to the office manager at each practice by email and on the phone, and send a cover letter and your résumé. Specifically inquire as to whether there are any opportunities to work or even to volunteer over the summer to gain practice experience.
You should also decide what your ultimate goal is in healthcare. If your plan is to further your studies and degree, I would also look into what is required to obtain a degree in that specific field.

Congratulations on earning your NHA and CCMA certifications! You're now one step closer to securing a health-based internship. Here's how you can make the most of your qualifications:
* Make the most of your certifications: Your NHA and CCMA certifications are a testament to your skills and knowledge. Be sure to prominently feature them on your resume and cover letter. Highlight the competencies you've acquired through these programs, such as understanding medical terminology, interacting with patients, and handling administrative tasks.
* Be strategic in your search: Start researching hospitals, clinics, doctor's offices, and nursing homes in your locality that provide internship programs. Choose programs that match your interests, whether that's pediatrics, geriatrics, or urgent care.
* Build connections: Networking is key. Get in touch with healthcare professionals in your circle. Inform them that you're seeking an internship and ask if they know of any opportunities. Participate in healthcare-related gatherings or engage in online forums to meet professionals in the field.
* Utilize school resources: Your school counselor or career center can be a valuable resource in your internship hunt. They might have collaborations with local healthcare facilities or can provide guidance in your search.
* Stay determined: If you don't get a response immediately, don't lose hope. Keep following up on your applications and continue your search. Your determination will reflect your genuine passion for the field.

Congratulations on passing your CCMA!
I am also a student who recently got my CCMA and I think securing a health-based internship with a NHA CCMA is a great way to gain hands-on experience and further develop your skills in the healthcare field. While opportunities for high school students with certifications may be limited compared to those available to college students or graduates, there are still several ways you can put your certification to use!
Reach out to hospitals, clinics, medical offices, and urgent care centers in your area to inquire about internship opportunities. Express your interest in gaining practical experience as a CCMA-certified student and highlight your willingness to learn and contribute. I would recommend creating a professional resume and LinkedIn account if you have not already! LinkedIn is a great way for you to find opportunities that align with what you are looking for in terms of experience and your certification!
You should also utilize your personal and professional networks to connect with healthcare professionals, including family friends, neighbors, and community members who work in the medical field. They may be able to provide guidance, referrals, or even internship opportunities.
Look for virtual internship programs or opportunities that allow you to gain experience remotely. While hands-on experience may be limited, virtual internships can still provide valuable exposure to healthcare practices, patient interactions, and medical procedures. Telemedicine platforms or virtual healthcare services that may offer internship or volunteer opportunities for individuals with medical certifications. These platforms may involve tasks such as remote patient monitoring, medical documentation, or patient education. You can also consider enrolling in online courses or modules related to healthcare, medical assisting, or specialized areas within healthcare (e.g., telehealth, medical coding) to enhance your knowledge and skills. Completing relevant online certifications or trainings can also strengthen your resume and demonstrate your commitment to professional development.
While not a formal internship, volunteering at healthcare-related organizations, community health clinics, nursing homes, or hospice facilities can provide valuable exposure to healthcare settings and patient care. Even if you're not directly utilizing your CCMA certification, volunteering allows you to gain experience, build connections, and make a positive impact in your community.
Exploring membership opportunities with professional associations or organizations related to medical assisting or healthcare can also be something that may interest you. These associations may offer resources, networking opportunities, and information about internships or volunteer opportunities available to students.
Congratulations again and good luck!

Great job on your certification! I suggest you try Handshake, a platform designed for high school and college students seeking internships or jobs. It's how I secured my last two internships at health insurance firms. Also, don't hesitate to contact anyone you know in the healthcare sector. Even if they can't directly link you to the exact internship you're after, they can still help get your name out there, which can be a huge advantage.
This was super helpful, thank you!
