Hey there! You don't exactly get to pick where you deploy, but the good news is you can voice your preference for where you'd like to be stationed, and this can influence your deployment locations.
Now, here's something else to consider: your chosen branch and job play a big role in determining your duty stations and even if you'll have to deploy at all. Every role is unique, so you could end up with a variety of experiences. I hope this info helps you out a bit!

Hello Scott,
Based on my observations, particularly with the Air Force, they seem to be quite accommodating when it comes to your work location. They typically consider your top three preferred locations and try their best to assign you to one of them, depending on your job role.

The decision is typically made by military leadership based on a variety of factors, including the needs of the military and the skills of the individual soldier. In general, soldiers do not have the ability to choose their deployment location.

It's very rare to have choice in deployment locations, however there are some roles that are more unique / fewer people complete, and it may be possible to raise your hand to say "I'd like to take a deployment to X continent when a slot opens up."
It is possible to rank order, among available locations, for where you'd like to be stationed (usually 2-4 years). The selection depends on a number of factors, including performance.

I spent over 20 years in the Navy, during your first enlistment you are normally going to be assigned by the needs of the Military. After you finish your first tour you usually get to barter for you next assignment. These available options are still open needs but you can have a voice in where you go and what you do.

Hi,
I'm not aware of any instances where military personnel can choose their deployment locations. Although you can express a preference for specific duty stations when re-enlisting, there's no guarantee that your request will be granted.
