Easy to do steps. ( a few of these might seem irrelevant but they are important in the long run)
1. create a discipline. work life balance time table or calendar. for example wake up at 4 exercise, run, shower, breakfast, sit down to study.
2. consistency. consistently work on your self. read latest news letters related to your industry and set a time to do so like 10 mins every day.
3. work/study consistency - code or design every day for at least 10 mins to 4 hours or more. create a consistent schedule it help brain process information efficiently and gives you a sense of deep understanding in your prefered subject of study.
Virtual reality.
good place to start would be read design documentation. go to Apple design guidelines and start reading about spatial design.
learn to code. can start with python but there specific programming languages dedicated to VR so do your due diligence and can focus on those.
join VR community on Linkedin , dribble, behance etc there are lots of these communities out there.
really find out what excites you in VR. is it designing or programming or something else. when someone says "i am interested in VR" it is vague tbh.
there are numerous applications from different industries like Education, Entertainment, Military, Medicine etc. find out what you are interested and focus on that particular industry because something that is applicable in medicine might not be applicable in entertainment or gaming.
skills
many different skill are needed in the field of VR
programming - python, c , c++
3d modeling, CAD
User experience / User interface - spatial design
etc etc and there is much more but it depends on what you are interested in.
go to coursera look through courses and tutorial some are free for limited time. good resources are available on youtube and medium as well.
warning beware of tutorial hell (please google it if you are not aware of what it is)
good luck.

There is so much to learn about virtual reality, it might seem awfully overwhelming to even know where to begin. You should definitely listen to all of the technical advice you can find, but I think a good place to begin to truly understand the world of VR is in the storytelling aspect (in my opinion, the most important part). Since a VR experience is immersive and often interactive, it would be worthwhile to try your hand at creating a branching narrative with decision points. You can write it as simply or as complicated as you'd like.
Here's an example. A guy named Bob is sitting at a bus stop, drinking a cup of coffee, and waiting for the bus. Beside him, a woman in a nurse's uniform is also waiting for the bus, a purse slung over her shoulder. As the bus approaches quickly, the woman twists her ankle and falls backwards into the street. Her purse flies elsewhere. You, the user, have a decision to make. Do you A) Save the nurse, B) Save the nurse's purse, or C) Cover your eyes because it's going to be gross when the bus runs over her.
Now here's the heart and soul of VR branching narratives: A, B, and C are each scenes that need to be written. And each of those scenes will have decision points where more paths branch out. This story can have many endings, or all scenes may lead to one ending. You are the creator of this world and it can be as humongous or small as you like.
I prefer to use a big white board to create the tree of scenes and paths. Another great option is twinery.org, a user friendly and free platform for creating branching narratives. It's fun, it's challenging, but most importantly, it helps you to wrap your head around the possibilities of VR. Every video game or interactive VR production starts with a story: its characters and setting and storyline. Once you immerse yourself into, and grasp, the wonderful world of branching narratives, you'll be well prepared to decide your next steps toward a career in the world of VR development.
Good luck, and have fun exploring the boundless possibilities of VR storytelling!

Hi Oghenemaro,
There are many exciting ways to improve your skills while working in VR!
You can dive into writing code, designing environments, creating characters, or even working on animation and visual effects (VFX). There are plenty of tutorials available online, especially on YouTube, to help you get started and pick up tips and tricks to enhance your projects.
I’d love to help you with the art side of things!
For creating 3D art and animations, I recommend checking out Blender. It's a great FREE program that you can download and start using right away. 3D art is essential for creating VR experiences.
A great FREE engine that's widely used for VR is Unreal Engine. One of the best things about Unreal is its marketplace, which is packed with free assets already optimized for the engine. This makes it super easy to get started! You can use these assets to quickly create your own VR space and explore it in real time with your VR headset. It’s a fantastic way to familiarize yourself with the workflow and dive right into VR development.
Here is a 20 minute video of how to get you started in quickly developing a VR space in Unreal using the market place assets.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiGh6MxDFds&ab_channel=VirtusLearningHub
So for a VR artist, the tools you will eventually need :
*QUEST 2 HEADSET (or 3) head set (Quest 2's are cheaper at this point. Around $100 to 200)... https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=quest+2&_sacat=0&_sop=12
*UNREAL ENGINE 4 or 5 (to build and run your VR enviroment in your Quest 2) (FREE)...https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/unreal-engine-5
*UNREAL ENGINE MARKETPLACE (Free assets you can create your VR environment with)... https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/free?count=20&sortBy=effectiveDate&sortDir=DESC&start=0
*BLENDER (to create 3D art assets) (FREE)... https://www.blender.org/
*ANDROID STUDIO (to get your Quest 2 headset working in Unreal Engine (FREE)... https://developer.android.com/studio#downloads
Once you get comfortable creating your VR space in Unreal, you can start developing your own art assets and import them into your VR space.
Here is a 5 minute video on how to do that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqF5D4kteX8&ab_channel=RoyalSkies
To record your play thru, try using OBS. It can record your desktop while Unreal Engine runs. Having videos of your playthru or walk thru of your environment is something you can add to your online portfolio

Hey there,
My first job was as a UX Designer for a VR Company that did 3D data visualizations and meeting rooms. I used Adobe Creative Suite--specifically Adobe XD, Blendr, and Mozilla Spoke. My CEO and COO told me that learning A-Frame is the best coding language to learn in order to create 3D objects. Starting out with a 2D coding knowledge is always a good place to start and if you want to code then A-Frame is what is used to my knowledge. It is pretty easy and similar to HTML.
I would also suggest finding someone in the community of VR on LinkedIn to follow and as soon as possible finding a strong mentor to guide you in the industry. I think you can probably find someone on LinkedIn. Most people in tech are non-traditionally educated and so they are typically willing to answer a few questions as far as where to get started.
Of course staying aware of trends is useful as well.

I think you can probably find someone on LinkedIn. Most people in tech are non-traditionally educated and so they are typically willing to answer a few questions as far as where to get started.
Of course staying aware of trends is useful as well.
