I suggest applying at your local hospital or local college. Some colleges partner with hospitals for new students. I ways able to receive at apprenticeship from a college that hires upon completion. Local clinics will allow volunteers to gain experience. Don’t devalue the experience and opportunities provided from volunteering. You may not be paid but you build relationships, experience and support for the opportunity to hire.

Hello, Beverly !
Medical Administrators are highly skilled, highly experienced medical professionals with either a Masters Degree or Doctorate in Health Care Administration. That being said, you wouldn't exactly be getting an internship as a Medical Administrator, but you can start out with doing volunteer work, attending college and when in college, internships around general medical care may be offered to you.
For right now, I would advise going for volunteer work in a hospital. You could also consider volunteering in nursing homes, hospice facilities or behavioral health facilities. Just being around the possible places that you'd work at in the future as an administrator will put you around the environment and you will get the feel of the venues and way things are done. That could be a valuable learning experience. Some hospitals that you can visit and inquire about volunteering are El Camino Hospital-Los Gatos Hospital, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, O'Connor Hospital, El-Camino Hospital-Mountain View Hospital, Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center, Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center. Visit their human resources department to inquire about volunteer work.
You can also introduce yourself to this field of work by exploring online classes. I have left a link below for an online class in Medical and Clinical Administration which teaches policies, practices, planning and principles of administration. The course may not be geared towards the U.S. market (perhaps the UK), but it's free and something to consider for a general introduction or overview to get you started. The next link below is for free online healthcare courses. These are a variety of courses that have subjects that one would want to know if pursuing medical administration. These courses are offered for free by colleges such as Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Tufts, Open University, Yale and Ohio State. These classes are certainly worthwhile looking into.
When you get experience to qualify for an Internship you can read about Internships that may be offered on employment websites such as Indeed. As you can see at the website link below, the Internships require certain academic degrees. There may be some Internships at entry level, not in Administration, but in the hospitals I've previously mentioned and not listed on the internet. When you visit the hospitals and facilities, you can ask if there are any health related internships offered. Your chances most likely will be better for a volunteer opportunity.
So, the most helpful thing you can do starting now and throughout college will be to gain experience being around all types of facilities and learn different policies which you can do by doing a search online and reading policies for healthcare in your state and county.
I wish you all the best moving forward with this exciting venture !
