How do I get a job at 15?
I live in the UK and have recently left school about to start college, I need a job throughout the summer so I can start earning money but in the UK to get a starter job you mostly have to be 16. I have tried looking online but there no help as you either have to be 16 or have experience but I know some jobs you can work at 15, I have my national insurance card and im turning 16 in 2 months. Has anyone got any tips or websites I can have a look on to try apply to a job? Thanks.

Well, although there seems to be some barriers for obtaining a job, always remember that you can always jump the hurdle of those barriers with some hands on work as well as tenacity. You will be turning 16 in August, so summer employment at a company for the summer may not be doable. That doesn't mean you can't work. There are other things that you can do.
Two things that come to mind are child care and house cleaning. Think about what the needs are around your neighborhood and make a flyer to post stating that you are available to do those tasks for people. Whether it be cleaning a flat for the elderly, baby sitting, washing people's cars or any jobs that you can do for private clients.
As you've mentioned, even working remotely websites sometimes do have an age requirement. Your initial search is correct. A search for jobs for 15 year olds in your city brings up opportunities that require experience. I would say that trying to do something independently, freelance would be your best bet. In America we have what is known as Garage Sales or Tag Sales at which people sell their items that they no longer want or need. I think in your country it is called a Car Boot Sale. Consider selling some old items that your parent(s) and you may no longer need. This can bring in some extra money for you until you turn 16. If you are good at making crafts, handmade jewelry or art or anything, you can sell those items, too.
If you have the inclination to do videos, consider creating content for a monetized platform. You would have to spend a lot of time doing it and know how to do this. Do check to see if there is an age requirement for that as well. You can also visit your local places of business to ask if they need someone to clean their shop or business. Sometimes one must take things into their own hands when employment websites are not helping. Try to keep busy so that you can focus on things and not worry too much about the situation. Don't forget to do some fun things this summer, too.

Hi Holly - One piece of advice that I would give is looking into potential restaurant jobs! I worked as a busser all throughout college and it was the best job I could have had as it offered a lot of flexibility, tips, and a great job to start in and move up to a server or bartender one day. To add to this point, a lot of restaurants here in America will employe students in the summer and when the next summer comes around they will schedule you again as these are typically the busier months of the year. I'm not sure how it works over in the UK but it is definitely worth looking into! Another path that I would look into would be refereeing. If you are interested in sports or have played sports before I know a lot of kids out here in America take jobs being a soccer or (football) referee for a little cash on weekends and it also gives you the opportunity to do something that you love and stay connected to the sport.
