Which college would be best to become a dental hygienist that are in my area?

I am currently a student at Madison Park High and I am in a dental assisting program. I plan on going to college to go further in dentistry. I would like to go to school here in Massachusetts where I can commute back and forth. Thank you! #dentist #dental-hygienist

Good question. I have been a Registered Dental Hygienist for 10 years and have a BSDH. When it comes to choosing a dental hygiene school, it is a little different than most other careers. Most schools will provide essentially the same training. So if you live in a city that has limited options (ie: only one school offering the program) don't feel obligated to move far away to attend another school.

The important things to keep in mind is whether on not the school you are considering attending is accredited. Check the state dental hygiene association website for accredited institutions or look at the accrediting information on the website of your potential school. In my personal opinion, it is usually best to attend a program at a public institution. I find that the hygienists who attend this programs are usually better practitioners and graduate with less debt.

Hi, I wanted to give you some information and an answer. I am not a dentist or even in the field but there are associations for most professional careers that can offer great information for you. Above is a link to a dental association. Good luck! :)
