Hi there! I'm from Miami and Florida International University (FIU) has a wonderful hospitality program:

You may have heard of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival. FIU Hospitality students are always involved with this event. FIU is usually a sponsor of the event as well.

If you're worried about a low GPA, you can attend Miami-Dade College, attain your Associate's degree first with a higher GPA, then transfer into FIU. It's a great school — I went for English! I hope this helps!

Hi! It sounds like a Community College might make sense for you to start. Its much less expensive (since you'll be out of state tuition based) and you can have a lower GPA. Then transfer to a school that has a Hospitality Program. There are many schools in Florida that offer hospitality. FSU, UCF, FIU in Miami to name a few. Hospitality jobs are everywhere. Sounds like you're on the right path with learning the industry now. Its not uncommon to start as a server, dishwasher, etc and move your way up. And lucky for you, hospitality and acting go hand in hand. I'm not sure what the market is like for acting in Miami. Atlanta has LOTS of opportunities for actors. Once you live in Miami and finish your degree Atlanta might be a good next stop to pursue acting. Its also MUCH more affordable than New York or LA. In terms of getting money for college, i suggest researching apps that will help you apply. There are TONS of unclaimed grants and scholarships each year. Treat it like its your job. Spend 1 hour a day looking and applying via the apps. Don't borrow money! Look for the free money first! Every little bit helps. Some scholarships might only be $500. Apply for the "little ones" too!

I suggest getting a job in a restaurant or hotel now if you haven't already. Experience is EVERYTHING!
