Hello Udaya,
I am incredibly impressed by your dedication and enthusiasm for artificial intelligence and computer science. Your passion for these fields is truly inspiring, especially at your age. The world of AI is vast, complex, and ever-evolving, but I have no doubt that with your drive and commitment, you will be able to make significant contributions. To secure a research assistant position under a computer science professor specializing in Artificial Intelligence at the high school level, follow these steps:
1. Identify potential professors: Research and compile a list of professors at universities or research institutions who specialize in AI or related fields. Look for their specific areas of interest within AI.
2. Conduct thorough background research: Learn about the professors' ongoing research projects, recent publications, and any involvement they have had with high school students in the past. This information will help you decide which professors align best with your interests.
3. Prepare your resume: Create a well-structured resume highlighting your academic achievements, relevant coursework, programming skills (Python or other languages commonly used in AI), extracurricular activities related to computer science, and any prior experience that demonstrates your passion and dedication to the field.
4. Craft a personalized email: Write a concise email expressing your interest in working as a research assistant under their guidance, specifically mentioning their work that resonated with you. Introduce yourself briefly and attach your resume for reference.
5. Request an informational interview: Politely inquire if they would be available for an informational interview (either via email or video call) where you can discuss their current projects further and express your eagerness to contribute as part of their team.
6. Showcase relevant knowledge and skills: During the informational interview, demonstrate your understanding of their work by discussing any relevant coursework you have completed or personal projects you have undertaken that relate to AI concepts like machine learning or neural networks.
7. Discuss availability and commitment: Clearly communicate how much time you can commit weekly during the school year without compromising on academics or other commitments such as extracurricular activities.
8. Be proactive about learning opportunities: Express enthusiasm towards attending seminars, workshops, conferences related to AI where you can gain additional knowledge and bring back insights to contribute effectively to ongoing research projects.
9. Follow up after the informational interview: Send a thank-you email within 24 hours expressing gratitude for taking out time from their busy schedule, along with reiterating your interest in joining them as a high school-level research student if there's an opportunity available.
Remember that securing such positions at this level might be challenging due to limited opportunities available for high school students;however, by demonstrating your passion, knowledge, and commitment to the field of AI in your interactions with professors, you increase your chances of being considered for a research assistant position.
Best wishes.

Finding a Research Assistant job on campus is usually competitive and when it is a role in Artificail Intelligence domain, the interest is even more. I would recommend doing a research on what topics the professor is currently pursuing.
Incase you are a beginner :
1. Start by enrolling in a free course in ML related to the topic of the role.
2. Try comparing your past experiences that can relate to this role to make a strong case that you would be a good fit for the job.
If you are an expert or intermediate in the field :
1. If a past experience relates to your case, make a refinement in it and make it presentable to show your professor.
2. If you do not have exposure to the field or a relatable area, try doing a project independenlty and show your results and approach to the professor.
University faculty are always looking for students who want to learn on the job as it helps them in two ways - getting projects done and getting talent to its peak on campus.
