This is a great question! Just about any business needs an accountant (or many!), so there are many options for you out there. I work in public accounting, which means I work for a firm that provides services to other companies and I work external from the clients that I do work on. You can also work "in industry", which means that you are doing accounting for a company itself.
More specifically, I am an auditor which means my team and I look at a client's financial statements and determine if they are fairly and accurately presented. I am an external auditor, meaning I am independent of the company that I am auditing. There is also such thing as an internal auditor, which means you work for the company you are auditing.
Long story short, there are so many opportunities out there for accountants right now, we are highly in demand! Best of luck in your journey!

Hello Amure,
There's a world of opportunity out there for you as an accountant. In fact, it's easier to ask where you can't work as an accountant, because the possibilities are nearly endless.
Accountants are sought after in every corner of the business world. From finance departments, where your skills can outshine even those of finance majors, to general business management where accountants are key players.
Marketing departments value the insights of accountants, and so does the government. Every corporation, no matter where in the world, is in need of proficient accountants. Small businesses too, rely heavily on the expertise of accountants.
In essence, we're indispensable and omnipresent.
As you embark on this exciting journey, consider the different types of accounting roles and decide which path resonates with you. Whether you choose to become a CPA, EA, CMA, or another type of accountant, each credential will open new doors for you.
Remember, the beauty of this profession is its flexibility. If you find that a certain type of accounting isn't quite your cup of tea, you can always switch to another that may better suit your preferences.
Here's wishing you all the best on this promising journey!

One of the best career paths for accountants is public accounting. Not only does it provide a very comfortable career as they have a large demand for accountants at all times, but it is also an industry where you can get involved early, sometimes as early as a sophomore in college as an intern, which allows you to start your money making and career as early as possible, and gives you a test run to see if you like working in that industry or sector. It also often allows you to obtain a job offer prior to even going into your senior year of college, which is very nice as well.
