Internships at 17?
Hi, I recently graduated high school and decided to take a gap year. I want to go abroad (mostly Europe) and do internship(s), etc. The problem is that most programs I found that offer internship placements abroad require you to be at least 18 and I don't turn 18 until January 2025, meaning I'd waste half of my gap year. Does anyone know where I could find internships that would accept a person my age? If not can anyone at least suggest alternative things I could do until I turn 18? Thank you :)

Also, consider the prospect of an unpaid or volunteer internship. Though it may not fill your wallet, the priceless experience and knowledge you'll gain are just as valuable. Remember, every step you take is a stepping stone towards your bright future!

You can consider these options before your 18th birthday:
Virtual internships: Look for remote internship opportunities that don't have age restrictions.
Local internships: Internships in your local area or nearby cities.
Volunteer programs: Explore volunteer programs abroad that accept individuals under 18.
Language immersion programs: Enroll in language immersion programs abroad to learn a new language and experience a different culture.
Online courses and certifications: Take online courses or earn certifications to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Hope you're doing well! If you're thinking about internships abroad at the age of 17, here are some exciting options you might want to look into:
Youth Internship Programs: There are organizations, such as AFS Intercultural Programs, which provide internships specifically designed for younger students like you.
Volunteering: You can explore international volunteering opportunities. Platforms like Workaway or WWOOF are great places to start your search.
Online Internships: Don't forget about remote internships. They can give you valuable experience and the best part is, there are no age restrictions.
Local Internships: Another great idea is to gain some experience locally before you venture abroad when you turn 18.
These options can really help you make your gap year productive and memorable until you're ready to take on more programs abroad. Enjoy exploring these opportunities!
