Hello, S !
It's great that you are thinking about your future career and starting to look into it. Although no one can guarantee information about how much money you'll make in the future because it is a process and depends upon which opportunities you take. I would like to give you some advice about what you have chosen - Communication Art.
There are many, many communication arts that you can take as a major in college. Some of them are Communication Arts with an emphasis on digital design, product design, or UX design. There are more, too, that you can do a search online for. Some other types of work that a degree in Communications will support would be Public Relations, Film, Television, Radio Production, or Video Production.
In many instances, the city you live in will determine the availability for the opportunities you could have in the creative fields. Research the availability of these careers in the town or city that you live in and it may be a deciding factor in determining which path you want to take.
While you are still attending high school, join some groups, clubs or activities that focus on the communication art that you are most interested in. Maybe seek volunteer work so that you can get a glimpse of which specialty offers the most creativity. Keep in mind for the future that if you work for a company, you may not have as much freedom, however if you start your own service business, you can be in charge of how you do things. When you get to college, take a couple of business classes if you think you may want to have your own service business later on. That would most likely afford you full creativity, but you'll always have to do what the customer wants.
It will be you who discovers exactly which realm of communication art to pursue. Try a bit of them now to actually see what you like. It's hard to decide or know when it's just something you're thinking about. Experience will give you answers. I've left a link to an article for you to read more about what a Bachelors Degree in Communications Arts is about. Also do a search for colleges that offer the degree in Communication Arts in your town, state and if you are considering school out of state.
I hope that this helps you out for a start and I wish you all the best !

Cliff’s Answer
Hi S,
My advice is to decide what you like to do, what kinds of jobs you think you'd like to do, and the decide what best kind of job you want to do based on that.
What kinds of things do you like to do? Who has a job you'd like to emulate? What do you think you could do without thinking of it as WORK?
I chose a job in IT and got a BS in Electrical Engineering. Math, Science, and Engineering courses were the hardest and yet most fulfilling for me. I learned a lot but when I got my job at IBM, I learned a lot of new skills and learned how to apply them to the job at hand. I worked hard and took a number of different jobs in my career at IBM. I've been at IBM for 42 years and I still enjoy my job.
My brother was a mechanical engineer, and my brother-in-law was an electrician. I combined those two to get to electrical engineering.
So, that's my advice. Spend some time thinking about it. Talk to your parents, friends, relatives, guidance counselors, etc.
Good luck!
