How to become an electrician?
What steps should I take to become an electrician? How many years of school do I need? Should I enter an apprenticeship or do something else?

I recommend getting into an apprenticeship program. I have been in an apprenticeship program and last year I received my journeyman card as a mechanic. I just recently joined the electrical program at the same job. An apprenticeship program is paid, you get the hours you need to become a certified electrician in the state and they will pay for the schooling you need as well. I would recommend getting some classes done before hand or try to find a job as an electrician to gain some experience.

Hi CJ,
This is a great and much-needed skill that will always be in demand. It will depend on what you want to do as an electrician, but I'd suggest looking into local trade schools, community colleges, and apprenticeships. I'd then try to connect with a representative of each and learn more about what they offer in terms of training, timelines, application processes, costs, potential employment placement, or assistance with finding employment. This should help give you more guidance as to what your options are.
