Hello Curry
To become a nurse depends on your grades, your perseverance, your endurance, your financial status or ability to get a scholarship, and pure grit.
You have several paths. You can just start by checking out if you can handle the job, Any hospital out there will give you a chance to go see what happens on the job.
You can start by trying to volunteer at the hospital. Some things are hard to see, and you have to have the heart for it. This is not an 8-to 5 job, This is a start to finish job. It does take a lot of caring and calls for a lot of yourself.
If your finances are low, go the LPN route first. This may take 1 to 2 years depending on whether you use a community college or a private college. You will have financial aid only if the college is accredited. You can do an LPN to RN program which would be another 2 years, and an RN to BSN program which would be another 1 year to 2 years. The waiting list at community colleges for LPN is very long, so you have to apply in an area where you are local and in the college where you did your prerequisites.
If you go the Associate RN route, you will need to do 2 to 3 years prerequisites before applying for the program. The waiting list for most RN programs at community college is pretty long, so do the same college you plan to apply to. After the prerequisites, you will do another 2 years for RN classes.
For BSN, you will need the main prerequisites again which may take 2 to 3 years. You can probably take prerequisites at community college because it is cheaper. Then you will have another 2 to 4 years at a university for your BSN degree. Again, there are wait lists.
For MSN you can be a Nurse Practitioner and treat patients like a primary care or acute care doctor, you can do nurse informatics (IT), leadership (Directors in hospitals), Nurse Specialist (The educators who teach nurses and patients), or Midwives who birth babies (work in ObGyn).
The hardest things about nursing education is the long days (most are full days at the college), the sequence of education is fixed (no chooseing classes), the long clinicals (you spend all day at the hospital for a large part of your schooling). Nursing exams are also legendary for asking what they never taught (the famous NCLEX). You have to understand the system.
Overall, you get into nursing because you have a heart. You have to love helping people. You will be with them for 13 to 14 hours of a day, and that can be challenging. But it is not hard if you love it.

The previous response lays a solid foundation. Let's illustrate this with a comparison. Imagine dedicating 15 years to mastering the craft of glass blowing. After this lengthy period of rigorous training, many apprentices are told they aren't up to the mark and leave disheartened. The field of surgery isn't for those easily discouraged. It requires a robust self-confidence, superior hand-eye coordination, and an exceptional understanding of three-dimensional space. Approach it as athletes do their sports. Surgeons, like athletes, earn more than their counterparts in other fields, such as internists or accountants, and there's a reason for that. Numerous factors could potentially shorten your career as a surgeon compared to an internist. View surgery as a profession suited for an energetic, driven individual.

Hi Curry,

I’m not sure exactly what you are asking but I think you are asking who does one become a surgeon. Becoming a surgeon requires going to medical school. You will have to go to undergraduate where you will chose a major, any major will work as long as you complete the pre-requisites which are found on medical school’s websites. You will then have to sit for the MCAT and apply to medical school. Upon completion you will do a residency in surgery where they train you to be a surgical attending. I hope that answers your question.
