Do you have any regrets about your major?

Since so many people, myself included, change majors while at university, it's probably safe to assume that some people simply settled for a major because they got tired of changing. Others might have just been stubbornly committed to a major for the sake of getting a degree. Do any of you feel this way about your majors? Anyone wish that they tried a different major, even if it meant delaying graduation?

Jared great question. I was an International Affairs major and minored in Chinese and personally loved my major. But in hindsight I wish I spent my electives on subjects other than what I was majoring in. Taking classes outside your major can be fun and can often lead you to discover a passion that you were previously unaware of. I took this one class outside of my major (Ancient Greek and Roman Mythology) and I absolutely loved it. It was really enjoyable and I had the best teacher for the course. Once you've got your general education requirements and major requirements out of the way, I would encourage you to look into classes you normally wouldn't take.

Best,

Austin

Look into signing up for classes that are outside of your field of study.

I honestly loved my major and the only think I would say I'd preferred is choosing sociology as a second major instead of human development and family studies. In my last three semesters at college I found that I fell in love with sociology and I want to get a masters degree in it now, so I guess it wouldn't have made too much of a difference anyhow. I just really would have loved to major in it and learn more about it.
