What is advanced training like?
I'm Planning on going to Sacramento City College to pursue advanced training but I'm not sure what things then will have me do and what the structure would be/look like.

Hello, Ian !
Great question, but are you saying that you will be going for advanced training for some sort of medical path ? I will go with your tag that says Medical Assistant because you didn't actually say what subject you are about to study at Sacramento City College.
To begin with, it is perfectly normal to not know exactly to the tee your entire mapped out path as a student. Things are done a step at a time, a semester at a time. You should start out by deciding if you want to take their Medical Assistant Certificate program for one year or their Associate in Science Degree which is a two year program. It may be better to go for the A.S. Degree as it may open more doors for you when you are seeking employment.
The prerequisites courses you'd have to take in college are Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology in the Biology Department, Introduction to Technical and Professional Writing, and Introduction to Medical Assisting. Once you pass these courses, you can start your M.A. program. Your required courses would be Introduction to Medical Assisting, Medical Office Procedures, Clinical Procedures, Medical Insurance Billing and Coding, and Medical Assisting Capstone. Certification is advised as it will help you with employment and advancement in your career. You will take the American Association of Medical Assistants Certification exam and by passing that, you are qualified to work as a Medical Assistant.
You should visit the college and ask any questions that you have and read their program requirements and course catalog so that you can get an idea of the education for this. While you are enrolled, that is when you will know the minute details of what they want you to do and you don't need to know them now. What you can do is become more familiar with the career you want to study for so that could provide some insight about what it's like to study it and then have a career in it. Then to discover how Sacramento City College has designed their program, go there for an orientation and read their program catalog or go to their website for the information. No one knows exactly what their program will be like until they enroll and experience it for themselves. It's really nothing to worry about.
If your inquiry was not for the Medical Assistance Program, please post another question stating what it is you will be studying at Sacramento City College.
Best wishes and have a great day !
