Hi Hannah,
I agree with what Claire said above about making sure you develop time management skills by writing down appointments, tests, project due dates, etc. I would also add that one thing I did to stop myself from feeling overwhelmed was going to office hours with my professors. I would talk to them about any questions I had regarding class material that way I would make sure I fully understood what was going on in each of my classes. I found that my professors really enjoyed when students showed that they were interested and came to office hours to ask them questions.
Good luck!

Hi Hannah,
This is an excellent question! The most important thing for me when I started college was learning how to manage my time. This was an area I struggled with in high school and definitely had to make some adjustments to juggle my academic, social, and personal schedules! Part of what really helped me was buying a planner that I regularly wrote down every appointment, meeting, class, assignment due date, etc. so I had an idea of what my weeks looked like. I also kept To Do lists I would make sure to keep updated for more immediate actions that needed to get down.
It could also be helpful to make sure you keep up with your favorite activities from high school, if you like to run, take time on the weekend to continue that! If you're an avid reader, set a goal to read to read a certain amount of books outside of class during the school year. This can help establish time you take out of the week just to focus on you! Good luck in college!

I hope all is well.... I would add a good habit to have is staying true to yourself. A lot of things you did in high school may not be the same interest anymore and something new may come along that keeps your interest. As long as you stay true to yourself, you will never fill dissapointed in your decision about your life.
I avoided a lot of things in high school but college gave me the opportunity to listen to my voice and what I wanted and try things out. I learned so much about myself and I’m still learning today. I hope this helped. Enjoy your semester.

Go to class. Plan to spend 2-3 hours studying for every hour of lecture. Attend your professor's office hours and any TA review sessions. If there is a test bank, use that as a study tool to understand what your professor wants you to focus on for the test.
