Looking for a paid internship? All you need are some specific skills that can bring value to your potential employer. For instance, you could learn how to create presentations or write reports in just a couple of weeks. Once you've mastered these skills, you can highlight them on your resume.

Next, take your CV directly to local offices and let them know what you're capable of. If you have a bit more time, say about three months, why not learn some advanced skills? Web development, graphic designing, and other high-demand skills can be learned rather quickly. You can easily find tutorials for the top ten most in-demand skills on YouTube.

Choose what you like and start learning. If you're eager to earn a decent income without a university degree, consider starting a career in the software field. Dedicate about 20 hours a week for around three months to this endeavor.

Create some sample works and showcase them to people in your local market. You can also reach out to international clients through freelance websites like Fiverr and Upwork. It's a great way to start your career journey and make some money along the way.

Michael’s Answer

While you're still in high school, an internship might not be the most effective strategy unless you're able to pursue it during summer and have financial support from your parents. However, if you manage to find a part-time internship that doesn't conflict with your school schedule, then that's fantastic. It's crucial that it doesn't overlap with your school hours. Including such an experience on your resume will certainly give you a significant advantage.

Furthermore, if you're able to secure an internship in a field that aligns with your interests or future career plans, don't hesitate to grab the opportunity. Experience is invaluable in all aspects.

Michael recommends the following next steps:

Search indeed, LinkedIn, and other job boards for internships. They have ways to narrow down the search parameters.

Teresa’s Answer

Some non-profits and small businesses do hire summer interns. If there is a non-profit in your area working in an area that interests you, consider reaching out. If unpaid is an option, volunteering can get you similar experiences. For example, if you like animals, animal shelters often need people to visit with the cats or walk dogs. It could be done summer or weekends. Put internet searches to use and search "internships" and your town, post on social media if you have an account and let folks know you are looking, ask friends and family if their companies work with teen interns. And jobs like retail, summer camp assistants, and other part time work or volunteering is all valuable experience in working in a team, responsibility, time management, etc. It's a great idea to ask here, and ask everyone you meet too. The more you get it out there the better.

Teresa recommends the following next steps:

Do an internet search for teen or youth internships near you.
Ask your high school guidance counselor for suggestions.
Tell your network that you are looking and ask them if they have suggestions.
