If I attain a bachelors degree in biochemistry, what kind of career choices are available?

I will be attending UCSB in the fall and plan to major in biochemistry. At first, my heart was set on becoming a pharmacist, but I would like to know what other career options are possible. I like helping people, enjoy biology, (especially chemistry), and mathematics, and I work well with children. Any suggestions would be great insight! #college-student

Karen Wise’s Answer

There are many options for a biochemistry major graduate. Pharmacy is a great option but there are others: Research Scientist (lab work), Assistant Professor (college), Science Teacher, Cell / Genetic Research, doctor, etc... There are even opportunities in the field of law! I would explore more of these options, have some discussions with a school advisor and even shadow professionals in some of these careers to see the day to day responsibilities.
