Marissa, I love that at your age you have made up your mind to what is interesting to you. First thing is first, thank you for wanting to join the Armed Service. We need men and women like you to step up and answer that call. We will never know where the next fight will be so preparation today for those future fights will be critical.
Now, I love this goal you have and that you are wanting and willing to work towards. MCMAP is a wonderful program and I have been part of a similar program. (Just for the Army and not the Marine Corps).
I would challenge you though to first make that goal Marine Corps Basic Training before MCMAP. However, never forget you are doing all of this to get to your goal. You must first get through bootcamp before you get to MCMAP. A lot of what is needed for bootcamp can actually carry over into MCMAP.
In order to be successful in bootcamp there are some steps you can take now to best prepare you. I will line some of those out. Be physically fit, mentally tough, academically smart, and be a good person. Lets break these down a little.
Physically fit: you will have to run, do pull ups and push ups, and have good core strength. This you can do every day now. In a safe and healthy manner. Stay away from the bad influences in life.
Mentally tough: bootcamp is more a challenge of the mind than it is a challenge of the body. Learn how to remain calm and look at a situation from all points of view. Not just your own.
Academically smart: study and study the subjects you dont like as well. Read a lot. Any book you can find. Ask good questions. Take school serious. Try not to miss school.
Be a good person: be respectful of people with authority. Dont get in trouble in school or the police. Be the kind of person others want to be.
Once you finish bootcamp let them know what you want to do. You got this.
