As a college student, the first focus is making a successful transition from high school to the college environment (being away from home, selecting classes, and managing your coursework). Once you establish yourself and are doing well with your coursework a job can be considered.
Most college campuses have opportunities for work study that can supplement financial aid. You will need to complete the FAFSA application. (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.gov.
Other employment options to consider are fast food restaurants on campus, the campus bookstore, or other retail establishments on campus. These jobs will work with your to keep your work schedule around your school schedule. I worked on campus as a courier in between classes. It was a great way to make money to pay for books and get exercise!
The last alternative is an off campus job. Transportation, hours, and a willingness to work with your school schedule must be considered as your first priority is doing well in school. Much success on your road to employment while a student!

I worked in the computer lab, library, engineering studies office and graduate studies office while getting my degrees. I also worked with LexisNexis as a student rep. Go to the places you are thinking about working and ask how to get a position there.
