Jason’s Answer

I've seen my company do quite a few things to engage with college students over the years. From being involved with various career fairs on different campuses across the country to offering a free summer externship program. They also offer summer internship programs and college hire programs for recent grads to join the company as their first job out of school. They also host different campus events like resume workshops and such on different campuses in tandem with the schools career centers. Those are just the ways I know of, I'm sure there are plenty of other great things they do to engage with and attract college students.

Annaleigh’s Answer

Hi De’Sharion!
To attract college students to work for a company, it’s essential to create an appealing environment that resonates with their values and needs. First, offering flexible work schedules can be a significant draw. Many college students juggle classes, internships, and social activities, so having the option to work part-time or during non-traditional hours can make a position more attractive. Additionally, providing opportunities for remote work can further increase appeal, allowing students to balance their studies with job responsibilities.

Another effective strategy is to emphasize professional development. Companies can attract college students by offering internships, mentorship programs, and training sessions that help them build valuable skills. Highlighting a culture of learning and growth can make your organization stand out. Promoting pathways for advancement within the company can also be a strong incentive, as students often look for roles that can lead to future careers.

Finally, engaging with students directly can be beneficial. This can be done through campus recruitment events, career fairs, and partnerships with universities. Utilizing social media and platforms like LinkedIn to showcase company culture, employee testimonials, and available opportunities can help build interest. Additionally, offering competitive pay and benefits, such as discounts or wellness programs, can further entice students to consider working for your company. By combining these strategies, a company can create an attractive package for college students looking for work.

Internship
10-week summer internship for currently enrolled undergraduate and master’s students. Internships allow us to bring in early-career talent, immerse them in our culture, and identify if they are a strong candidate for future roles. This program creates a pipeline for the possible return of intern, full-time campus direct, or development program opportunities.

Co-ops
6-month skills accelerator program for enrolled college students who are a part of our selected schools’ co-op programs. Co-ops provide students with full-time work experience as they accelerate their skills through hands-on learning. This program creates a pipeline for the possible return of full-time campus direct or development program opportunities.

Development Programs
2 to 3-year full-time rotational programs with targeted and functional curriculum. Aimed at top talent, our development programs are intended to accommodate smaller groups aligned to different career tracks. This comprehensive development experience focuses on skills acceleration, allowing participants to boost their potential and create impact to the business.

Campus Direct
Full-time placements for graduating students, providing roles across Band levels 8, 7, and 6 (MBA-only). Many of our Campus Direct hires come from our other emerging talent programs, such as internships and co-ops. Upon successful completion of these programs, they are poised to bring their meaningful skills and experience into a full-time role after graduation.

Robert’s Answer

In general, my company posts summer internship programs and full-time employment roles on the company website. Internship programs can lead to opportunities to join hiring programs for recent grads to join the company as their first job out of school. Additionally, there are programs focused providing opportunities to group that do not follow the standard education route such as our Veterans Associate Program (VAP).

Anas’s Answer

As a business owner, here's our friendly guide on how we draw in college students:

Resumes: Let your resume shine! Highlight all those skills, projects, and even part-time jobs that show off your abilities. Remember, even the smallest experiences can shine a light on your potential.

Experience: We love to see hands-on experience. So, get stuck into internships, part-time jobs, or even your own personal projects. The more you can demonstrate your skills in action, the better.

Education: Education is key, but we're also interested in how you put that knowledge to use. Show us that you're not just about learning but also about turning that knowledge into action.

Internships: We provide internships as they're a great way for us to spot talent early on. Plus, they're a fantastic way for you to see if our company fits with your career aspirations. Take these internships seriously; they often pave the way to full-time roles.

Salary: Our starting salaries are competitive, but the real value we offer lies in the growth opportunities. Show us your eagerness to learn and develop, and your paycheck will mirror your efforts.

Opportunities: Our company offers various growth paths, be it in management, tech, or operations. We're on the hunt for students who are ambitious and ready to embrace new challenges. Show us your dedication, and the opportunities will come knocking.

Karen’s Answer

My company has college summer internships. At the end of the internship, some of the interns are selected to participate in a Graduate Training Program upon graduation. This is an 18-month program where the person will participate in three six-month rotations within the company. At the end of the 18 months they are offered a job at one of the rotations.

Taylor’s Answer

My company has a variety of opportunities for college students & entry level roles. I myself was hired as a "new grad hire". My company recruits at local university career fairs. There are also some cohort options for early in career college grads, such as a Finance cohort and Sales cohort. You can also apply via their online portal where your resume will be open for all recruiters to see, whether you apply for that position or not, so they can look through the database and recruit for those interested in that company.
