College can be stressful and intimidating, so selecting the RIGHT major for you is very important. Yes, there are many majors that could be more difficult to get into, however, selecting a major should not be based on difficulty. You want to make sure it is something you are truly interested in, otherwise, work and class may not keep your interest. I have seen too many students move from major to major due to indecisiveness and lose out on credits earned and have to stay in school longer, then ultimately never graduate. Schooling is very important these days for a successful career, but it all starts with what YOU want to do and enjoy otherwise you may find yourself bored and unmotivated. Be sure its something you really want to do with your life, whether it be difficult or easy to get into! Best of luck!

Take a look at the National Center for Education Statistics. "Of the 1,716,000 bachelor's degrees conferred in 2010–11, the greatest numbers of degrees were conferred in the fields of business (365,000), social sciences and history (177,000), health professions and related programs (143,000), education (104,000), and psychology (101,000)." But ease of entering a major completely depends on the college. Sometimes a college will allow you automatic entry into a major with admission to the college; this is common at many small colleges and a number of large ones. Other times, you'll have to enter as a freshman into a "general" or undecided group, then apply to a major of your choice after you've completed some preparatory classes at the college level. Talk with your admission counselors to see what their individual college's policy is.
