All types of law firms, including IP firms, hire marketing professionals to specifically market to sectors, industries, & even certain clients/companies. There have been situations where a marketer(at a law firm) has worked with a client on a particular campaign in special situations. There is also occasionally the opportunity that an attorney could refer a marketer to a job opportunity at one of their clients.
An attorney could also be involved with setting up a corporations structure that would include chief and global marketing officers.

Very accurate.
All institutions one way or the other work with marketers outsourced or internal staff running products for their firms.

Yes! You will usually work in conjunction with the law firm as a contracted consultant for whatever business need they need you for. In terms of working as a marketer in a global setting, that depends on the reach of the law firm you're working with, but there's definitely opportunities.
