What SAT Subject should you take for a Electrical Engineering major?

SATs standard test will cover a large number of topics and aren't specific to electrical engineering though you need to get good scores on it to get into the better engineering colleges. check out any guide by Barron's, Princeton review, etc. to study for that.


SAT subject tests are different and aren't absolutely required but do look good for college applications and are another chance to learn. advanced math and physics are good for electrical engineering.


to get an electrical engineering degree you will need strong skills in math and physics. Computer science also but not as much as math and physics. Learn calculus AB, calc BC as those can be high school level, similar to the SATs, if you have access to AP classes at your school. Electrical engineering also needs a lot of knowledge of physics. If you can take classes in Introduction to Electromagnetics/Circuits or something similar to that.
A general physics subject, something like Kinematics, is good too since any type will help you prepare for what you'll need to do on a regular basis to get an EE degree. For computer science try to get exposed to C++ or JAVA. You will be using MATLAB a lot in college. Logical and critical thinking. Ability to take a math formula and apply it to a real world problem instead of "plugging and chugging."

Hey Ricardo! SAT Subject tests really aren't relevant much at all to engineering disciplines. Its only to test your fundamental knowledge of a certain area. I think most relevant one is SAT Math 2.


To get a really good grasp of that engineering major, I would suggest exploring that major's intro courses and shadowing some students or industry professionals in that area. That's the best way to know if you will like that area.
