I finished my high school diploma at the age of 18. Would it be possible to do a three-year apprenticeship as a horsewoman and then as an air traffic controller? You can only start the apprenticeship up to the age of 22?

Would this possible? What if I need two attempts?

Hello Jil Ellen,

Good question! It's certainly possible to pursue both a horsewoman apprenticeship and an air traffic controller apprenticeship, but there are a few things to consider:

Age Restrictions:

Horsewoman Apprenticeship: While the age limit for starting this apprenticeship is usually 22, some programs might have exceptions or flexibility. It's best to inquire about specific programs to determine their exact requirements.

Air Traffic Controller Apprenticeship: This field often has more stringent age requirements, and you'll likely need to meet the minimum age criteria to be eligible. Research the specific requirements for air traffic controller apprenticeships in your region.

Timeline:

Completing both apprenticeships within a 3-year timeframe might be challenging, especially if you need to take two attempts for either or both. It would require careful planning and efficient management of your time.
Consider the possibility of extending your apprenticeship or taking a break between the two programs to ensure you have enough time to complete them successfully.

Educational Requirements:

Some air traffic controller apprenticeships might have specific educational requirements, such as a certain level of math or science proficiency. Ensure that your high school diploma and any additional coursework you've taken meet these criteria.

Research and Planning:

Horsewoman Apprenticeship: Research programs in your area or region that offer horsewoman apprenticeships. Consider factors like location, program reputation, and the specific skills and knowledge you want to gain.

Air Traffic Controller Apprenticeship: Explore the requirements and application process for air traffic controller apprenticeships. Pay attention to age limits, educational requirements, and any specific tests or assessments you'll need to complete.

Additional Considerations:

Cost: Apprenticeships often involve costs, such as tuition, fees, or equipment. Consider your budget and explore any financial aid options that might be available.
Time Commitment: Both apprenticeships will require a significant time commitment. Be prepared to balance your studies, work, and personal life effectively.

While it's possible to pursue both a horsewoman and an air traffic controller apprenticeship, careful planning, research, and flexibility will be essential. Consider consulting with guidance counselors or career advisors to discuss your options and develop a personalized plan.

Best wishes!
