Hello, Noah !
How awesome that you are ready to write a script ! That is wonderful. Maybe my advice would be too simple and too archaic, but it's worth hearing a variety of suggestions !
May I assume that this is your first screenplay that you are writing, otherwise, you'd probably know of the software that I will mention later. May I also assume that this is a Screenplay and not a Script for a play on stage ? So my initial advice is to make it easy on yourself and just use Microsoft Word. You will first write out your Treatment. I have left information about how to write a treatment at a link below and it has the Microsoft Word Film Treatment Template that you can download to your computer.
Once you finish your treatment, just start writing the script on Microsoft Word. If you do not want to free hand it on Microsoft Word, you can explore various Screenwriting Software, but you may not find any completely free ones. They may say you can "start" for free but maybe have to pay for more options. It's worth exploring. I have left links below for you for some software. Keep in mind that many may not be totally free. You can also do a search online for more if these are not suitable for you, or just use Microsoft Word. That would be free. And remember to get your script Copyrighted !
I hope that this is helpful and if you have any other questions along the way, definitely return here with details of what's on your mind. We're happy to help out !

Hi Noah - We live in an age of multiple tools that pull us into the screen and distract us with the multiple ways to use them. My recommendation is to first master and cherish and relish the #1 tool you have first: your mind. Get some paper, a simple pencil or pen to keep you focused - but stay focused on the magic in your mind and keeping it alive. Whatever you use to write will only help you if the 'writing with your mind' comes first, middle, and last!
Wishing you a great adventure!
(having said that: a fine writing/screenwriting software is Highland2!)

Generally, you'd have an idea what you want to do, and choose the tools after that.
For example, the tools used to build a treehouse will be different than the tools used to build a computer chip.
The tools you would use depend on what you want to do, and where you want to do it. Perl, Python, or even shell scripting are all used today. PowerShell is another tool that (I believe) is mostly for Windows, whereas a bash shell script would be written on a Linux box.

For starters, you can use your documents like Word or Google Docs! Some may even use the apps called Wattpad, but if that is not your style you can very well use word or Google Docs.
