Becoming very good at public speaking is a way to stand out from peers. Being comfortable with speaking in front of audiences of all sizes is important now and in the future. If you are already good at public speaking challenge yourself to find more opportunity to learn the art of story telling when speaking to large groups both virtually and in person.
You can also join groups that will help you engage with and learn from new audiences. For example a volunteer group or sports group is a good start. These groups may have volunteer leadership roles like treasurer, historian, public relations member and other roles that will give you the opportunity to develop leadership skills and stand out.
You can also share your culture and experiences through cultural exchange moments like (potlucks) where peers/ colleagues/friends bring a food dish they enjoy along with a country flag or other symbols representing you.

Hi Perla - Great question!
First, good for you for knowing what you would like to major in. Those are both great fields.
Secondly, one thing that I believe helped me as an international professional living in the States is creating a personal website. This is a fantastic way for you to stand out and work on your brand. Talk about your history, what matters to you and where you see yourself professionally. This is also a great way to incorporate a personal touch on things that you are passionate about and what motivates/drives you as an in indvidual.
I recommend using Google Sites, as it's an easy and affordable way to get started with that.
Hope this helps and best of luck :)

As an international student, you already stand out just by being you! However, the best way to turn being international into a super power is by framing your previous experiences and unique view in a way that will distinguish you. For example, I see you are from Honduras so if my assumptions are correct, you can frame various pieces below to stand out:
- being international mean you come from a different culture and heritage then your potential peers: delineate how those around you could benefit from your perspective
- Bilingual: fluent in the 3rd most popular language in the world helping you to be able to communicate with a broader audience.
- Perspective on economy: Honduras has a very different political and economic standing compared to the US, this is knowledge you can bring to the table that the majority will not have.
- Adaptable: you want to be an international student which means you are eager to try new things and open to challenging yourself

Thanks, can't wait to put this advice into action!
