How do I deal with procrastination after I miss or fall behind in classes #Fall24?
When I miss days of school, I tend to build up assignments. This leads to me getting overwhelmed and procrastinating the work which leads to more stress.

Hi Elizabeth! I call this “task paralysis.” It is when you have too many things to do that you freeze and can’t do any of them.
What I do to solve this problem is to draw a large circle on a piece of paper. In the circle, in no order whatsoever, just write whatever tasks come to mind. It should look messy but keep it within the circle. Then, take a colored pencil or highlighter and circle 2-3 of those tasks as High priority. Then choose a different color to circle 4 more task to be Important / medium priority. Then the rest can be listed as “can wait.”
Now, focus on those first 2-3. They are what need done first, then move on to your next list and so on.
I hope this helps, but most important of all… if you feel overwhelmed, talk to someone and show grace to yourself. Ask for help and be sure to understand that your worth is not defined by what you get done, but by who you are.

Thank you so so much! I will definitely try this out. I was worried because no one else seemed to understand why I was procrastinating and not just "doing" the work. Thank you
Elizabeth
