Hi Devan,
Great question! There are many computer related careers that are in high demand and will be for many years or decades. Cyber security springs to mind immediately. The bad actors are always evolving so cyber security experts are in huge demand!
Big data is another great area! Companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon collect huge amounts of data on everyone and need tools to wade through and make sense of that data.
My suggestion is to find an area that interests you and head down that path. As you go through your career, you will evolve and can move into other areas. The industry is always changing and if you adapt, you will stay relevant and in demand!
Enjoy your journey!

Hi Devan,
I appreciate your question about programming careers! Being in Grundy Center means you’re in a part of the country where tech jobs might not seem prevalent, but the great news is that remote work has expanded possibilities like never before. One career that’s seeing a significant rise is that of a Full Stack Developer.
Full Stack Developers are essential because they understand both the front-end and back-end aspects of web applications. Companies highly value professionals who can handle everything from designing user interfaces with HTML/CSS and JavaScript to working with databases and server-side logic using languages like Node.js or Python. Given that many companies are transitioning to digital platforms, there is a high demand for versatile developers who can contribute to every stage of software development.
To start your journey, I would recommend familiarizing yourself with frameworks like React for front-end development and Express.js for the back-end. Again, platforms like FreeCodeCamp or Codecademy are excellent for interactive learning. Building a strong GitHub profile with your projects will further help you stand out. The skills you acquire will not just get you into the door; they can also open up opportunities with remote firms significantly expanding your reach!
Good luck with your efforts!
