Should I go in undecided, look into majors, or stick with biology?

My current major is biology but I'm not 100% if I will be interested in this field. There are some things I like and dislike about it but I understand with every major, there might be a couple classes/subjects that will not excite you. I have also heard it is one of the more challenging majors, but again, I understand it depends on the person. I'm not sure if I should stick with biology and see how it plays out, and if not change my major, go in undecided, or maybe look into other majors? As of right now, I'm interested in optometry but I'm not 100% certain if my mind is set on this. Are there other majors that could possibly be taken for optometry? #college-major #college #biology #optometry

Thank you comment icon Biology will be a help if you want to be an optometrist. Yes you will not enjoy every class in your major but our passion for that major will help you through it. If you are a 100% sure that you want to be in that field then I suggest you stick it out. Ashley Hatcher

Hi I am an optometrist that majored in Bio and minored in Psych. The wonderful thing with optometry is you can really major in anything you'd like if you get all your pre reqs in. I think by doing a pre req for optometry you are pretty much almost at a bio major which is why it made the most sense to me. I would really look up all the schools you are interested at Association of Optometry Colleges (ASCO) and determine which schools require what pre reqs- they can vary quite a bit. Then you can decide. Even have a business background can be helpful especially if you've ever considered opening up your own practice. Hope this helps!
