Dentistry major?
Hi!
I think I've decided on becoming a dentist, but I'm not sure what major I should choose. I've heard that it's best to choose something related to your career, but I'm not sure about that. If that's true, what majors do you recommend/think will be good for my career?

Dentistry may be a strong career choice for someone interested in healthcare and science and passionate about helping others. A dentist must complete a bachelor's degree, dental school, and, for some specialties, a dental residency.
As you work toward getting your bachelor's degree, enroll in courses that count as pre-dental coursework. There are a number of courses in key subjects that dental schools require candidates to complete prior to attending a program. These include biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology and English composition. Specific dental schools may require different types of prerequisite courses, so meet with your academic adviser to guide your graduation plan.

Dentistry schools don’t require a specific major, but choosing one that aligns with dental school prerequisites can help. Here are some solid options:
1. Biology: Covers many dental school requirements like anatomy, physiology, and microbiology.
2. Chemistry or Biochemistry: Essential for understanding the chemistry-focused aspects of dentistry.
3. Health Sciences: Offers a well-rounded foundation in health and human sciences.
4. Psychology: Enhances patient communication skills, which are key in dentistry.
5. Biomedical Engineering: Great if you're interested in the technical side, like prosthetics.
These majors set you up for dental school and allow for flexibility if you later decide on a different health-related field.
