I am in 12th grade and live in Pennsylvania. How exactly do you sign up for financial aid? I have heard of FAFSA, but isn't there also another account you need to sign up for first? What are the deadlines? When is the earliest you are able to appl, and is there a benefit to sign up sooner rather than later? #Fall24

Hi Dominic, you are going to need a few items prior to filling out the application. Particularly financial information for yourself and/or parents/contributors if you are dependent and acceptance / intent of application from a university.

You should be able to create account and follow prompts to complete application at https://studentaid.gov/ . Should not take more than 1 hr.

Hi, Dominic !

To apply for Federal Financial Aid, you can apply online or visit the college you plan to attend and see if they have a hard copy of the application for you to have. All the information will be provided to you at the Financial Aid Office at your prospective college. You can also apply online at the website I have provided for you below. Talk with your high school teachers and talk with your guidance counselor, too. I am not aware of any other account that is mandatory before applying for Federal Financial Aid.

Before you submit your application, make sure to talk to your high school counselor. They can link you with helpful resources such as Graduate Philadelphia, which can guide you through the process. Completing the FAFSA is a big financial commitment, but you might be eligible for financial aid.

It's best to start early, and remember, you'll need information from your parents for the application process.
