Hello Paige,
Great question! Standing out in a job interview involves showcasing your unique skills, experiences, and personality in a way that aligns with the company's needs and culture. Here are several strategies to help you stand out:
Research the Company Thoroughly:
- Understand the company’s mission, values, products, and recent news.
- Familiarize yourself with the industry and any challenges the company may be facing.
Tailor Your Responses:
- Customize your answers to reflect the job description and the company's needs.
- Use specific examples from your past experience that demonstrate your skills and accomplishments relevant to the position.
Show Enthusiasm and Passion:
- Express genuine interest in the role and the company.
- Be energetic and positive throughout the interview.
Prepare Thoughtful Questions:
- Ask insightful questions about the company’s goals, team dynamics, and job responsibilities.
- Avoid generic questions; instead, show that you’ve done your homework.
Highlight Your Unique Value Proposition:
- Identify what sets you apart from other candidates, such as unique skills, experiences, or perspectives.
- Clearly articulate how your unique attributes will benefit the company.
Practice Your Stories:
- Prepare STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) responses to common behavioral interview questions.
- Practice telling your stories in a concise and engaging manner.
Demonstrate Problem-Solving Skills:
- Share examples of how you’ve successfully tackled challenges in previous roles.
- Discuss how you approach problem-solving and decision-making.
Showcase Soft Skills:
- Emphasize your communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
- Provide examples of how you’ve demonstrated these skills in the past.
Be Authentic:
- Be yourself and let your personality shine through.
- Authenticity helps build a connection with the interviewer.
Follow Up:
- Send a thoughtful thank-you email after the interview.
- Mention specific points from the interview to reinforce your interest in the role and appreciation for the opportunity.
Dress Appropriately:
- Dress in a way that is professional and appropriate for the company’s culture.
- When in doubt, it’s better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed.
Be Punctual:
- Arrive on time or slightly early for the interview.
- Being punctual shows respect for the interviewer’s time and demonstrates reliability.
By implementing these strategies, you can make a strong impression and increase your chances of standing out in a competitive job interview.
Best of luck!

During a job interview it is important to know the structure and objectives. Then come on time, be calm and do not try to be someone else. Be yourself and speak calmly. Do not hesitate to listen to react better.

I highly recommend doing your research before the interview and prepare for the format of the interview. Practicing will give you the confidence that a lot of interviewers look for. Last but not least, be authentic, be yourself. You have an incredible story to share, so share it without being shy.
