Bailey’s Answer

For me, it was not worth becoming a medical assistant. I ended up advancing my degree to a nurse and I was still paying off my medical assistant loan. The trade school for medical assistant is very expensive. I wished I would have become a CNA or phlebotomist instead. It is cheaper and quicker to become a CNA or phlebotomist. As a medical assistant I worked Monday - Friday 8am -5pm. It made it difficult to go back to school. As a CNA or phlebotomist, you can work in the hospital with varies hours including 3 12hr shifts a week, nights, or weekends. There is opportunity to make overtime as a CNA or phlebotomist as well. It was hard for me to find a good job as a medical assistant and they did not pay well at all.
