Proper networking can amplify what skills you have. But in order to be effective with networking you need to have the skillset people are looking for. Your degree is the first step and networking can help expand your options. So, based on your options, the degree is more important. You can always learn work on your networking skills after you graduate.

Nash’s Answer

I think more than a degree or networking, consciously working on getting work experience or starting your own thing has always increased the interest of employers.

Your degree shows employers that you have discipline and dedication to earning an education. But besides that, it can't ultimately land you a job.

If you're an introvert, networking always sucks and you don't know where to start!

My advice is always positioning yourself as a unique individual, who has taken their education and started working on building their own brand. What this does, is it shows initiative and zeal on your area of interest.

I majored in Information Technology with a concentration in database programming, but loved storytelling and writing on the side. Which ultimately led me to starting my career in digital marketing. It's crazy how things work out in life , sometimes for the better :)

Nash recommends the following next steps:

Find your passion, work on projects related to that passion on the side.
