Emmawilson’s Answer

A cardiologist is someone with specialized training in identifying, treating and preventing diseases related to the heart and blood vessels. Cardiologists can use techniques like stress testing, cardiac catheterization, and radiology studies to diagnose heart conditions, and may prescribe treatments that ranges from lifestyle changes to medication and to surgery.

On any given day, a cardiologist may see new patients who may have problems with their heart and existing patients who are under-going treatment. The cardiology department at MGH has cardiologists (who do what I just described), cardiac surgeons who perform operations, anesthesiologists who prepare patients for surgery, and nurses.
