Hello, Jacob !
I am glad to see that you have asked more questions !
The entertainment industry, which includes your career interest in Filmmaking, is always changing due to social and technological factors and sometimes politics enters into it. So it is unpredictable, ever-changing as much as it is creative and exciting.
Most of the changes in this industry really made their presence known in 2020. On top of it all, there was both an Actors as well as a Writers Strike which changed many things. One of the most positive things that came out of the changes that don't serve professionals in this field is the rise of being Independent Filmmakers, Actors, Podcasters and Video Producers. You can explore how professionals are leaving Hollywood by doing a search for videos that report on it.
Another huge change in the industry comes with the implementation of AI. Although CGI has been around for quite some time, very useful and great for special effects careers, AI has entered the picture (excuse the pun). This has been a concern of actors because basically, AI takes an actors' voice and image for use instead of hiring actors. AI can also write complete screenplays, which limits the opportunities for writers unless they want to use the AI themselves. The Screen Actors Guild has set up guidelines for the use of AI, but it is not always guaranteed to be followed by every single video or filmmaker. I know of two lawsuits from famous names whose image and voice were taken, no payment or permission to use. But there are more changes than just that.
A major film platform has put together strict guidelines that Hollywood Filmmakers must comply with or they wouldn't be considered to work. This consists of which races and genders must be hired - including crew and caterers - and they are very precise about it giving percentages of what race and what gender are allowed to be hired. If you type in a search "Standard A: On Screen Representation, Themes and Narratives" you may find the whole document. So, that is pretty much very different in the industry.
But wait, there's more. There is a website that wants casting directors to cast through them and vet people based on their beliefs. It exists, however, I am not so sure too many people are using this. Casting has nothing to do with a person's belief and to cast this way very much hinders casting for chemistry of the acting ensemble. So, a lot of tech has entered the industry as well as politics, so that, I would say, is a current change and I do not know how it will evolve in the future or if the former industry practices will return. There will always be changes in this industry as there are changes in the world.
There is a lot more to say about this industry, but I hope that this is enough to inspire you to further explore !
Best wishes in all you do !

Hi Jacob,
It's exciting to hear that you're exploring potential career paths through the Career Express program! The field of technology is constantly evolving, and I genuinely believe we will see significant advancements in the next few years. One major trend that stands out is the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning across various sectors. For instance, companies like Google and IBM are increasingly relying on AI not just for data analysis but also for decision-making processes.
Another area to keep an eye on is the rise of remote work technologies. The pandemic accelerated this shift, and now, businesses are investing in tools that enhance collaboration, like Microsoft Teams and Slack. This change will not only alter workplace dynamics but also expand career opportunities beyond geographical boundaries.
To stay updated, I recommend following relevant publications like TechCrunch and MIT Technology Review, or joining tech-focused online communities. Websites like Coursera also offer courses that might be interesting since they provide insights into current industry trends and skill development.
Good luck with your exploration!
Best,
Aman
