Aman’s Answer

Hi Benedict,

It’s great to see you taking the initiative to build your career and grow in your education. One effective method to achieve this is by setting specific goals for yourself. Start by identifying what fields or industries genuinely interest you. For instance, if you're leaning towards technology, consider enrolling in certification programs through platforms like Coursera or edX, where you can learn about coding or data analysis, which are in high demand right now.

In addition, don’t underestimate the power of networking. Attend local meetups or industry conferences in California. This could be events related to tech, business, or whatever your passion is. Meeting professionals in your desired field can lead to mentorship opportunities or even job openings that aren’t advertised. Networking is often about building relationships; it didn't happen overnight, but those connections can be invaluable.

Finally, consider gaining practical experience through internships or volunteer work. Many organizations, including local nonprofits, are often keen on bringing in motivated individuals who can learn on the job. This not only adds valuable experience to your resume but also helps you make connections who can guide you further in your career path.

Wishing you all the best on your journey!

Rebecca’s Answer

Thank you for question. The most important is to find out what careers you have interest.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favourite, subjects, etc and identify the related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Andrew’s Answer

Ideally, you would like to align your career path with your ability and passion.

Hence, it is imperative to have an honest assessment of your ability, on which you may want to build your future career. At times, one’s ability and passion may not be in good alignment. In that case, it is necessary to make tough choices.

Naturally, education is the bridge to your career choice. Take the necessary courses in school, no matter how difficult and demanding that can be, to prepare you for your career choice. It will take sacrifice to fulfill one’s dream.
