Can I get into Choate Rosemary Hall?

It's my first choice. I'm in my schools newspaper, I play electric guitar, basketball, and I'm the president of my schools community service club. I have a good essay about very personal sob story, and my grades are A's and A-'s. I'm not sure about SSAT scores but they're not looking super competitive. I have a family friend on the board (not much help though) and I do lots of volunteering. Lots of my family including my mom and everyone of my cousins went to independent boarding schools. My family can pay full tuition. I'm applying to about seven schools, three reach (choate, lawrenceville, groton), three middles (middlesex, berkshire, westminster) and , and one safety. (frederick gunn or millbrook) I don't have any awards or recognition :( But great rec letters I think.

Your merits should be your only ticket into selected schools? Not financial. Not buddy system, nor influence, not even friend of a friend of a friends sleight of hand. Requirements are set for students who on paper (tablet) can do the work, put in the study, bring honor to the institution so I was a bit taken back by the comment (not much help though)

As a United States Marine veteran from NYC, I can not fake being a Marine. Not everyone can do it so it is why we are the Few, the Proud, the Marines.

You can not fake being a mover & shaker, apparently it is in your DNA, but with that said, your future school is based on your merits, personality as well as past acts of leadership. Your letters of recommendations should never cause you doubt, but the numbers of institutions you have submitted to does show doubt within yourself.

Stand proud Mary. It is not the institution that should be the factor of honor for you, it is you that is the factor of honor for them. I have worked with people from the best schools and bested them just being who I am. You got the guts and drive and action to back it up.
