What are the most common mistakes made by newcomers in your field during their first year, and how can I avoid them? Any resources you would recommend such as books or certain mentors to follow?
I'm interested in becoming a real estate agent, a real estate investor as well as a stock market investor in the future.

Most folks tend to blend in and do things the way others do. But remember, it's essential to stay true to who you are. Find a trusted mentor who will guide you honestly. Never shy away from expressing your thoughts. Maintain a positive attitude and trust your instincts.
Thank you for the advice!

Hello Amy, what a wonderful day!
One common pitfall for those who are new to a certain field is biting off more than they can chew. It's crucial to maintain a healthy equilibrium in every aspect of life. Overloading yourself can quickly lead to exhaustion and burnout. Moreover, it could result in you not finishing your tasks on time. Unfortunately, others may not see this as a result of you taking on too much. Instead, they might label you as a slacker, a procrastinator, or unreliable. This could potentially tarnish your career, even though your intentions were simply to be helpful. So, before you say yes to a task, take some time to comprehend its scope and magnitude. Don't hesitate to ask for help when needed. The fact that you've asked this question shows that you're capable of making wise choices. Keep going strong!

Hi Amy!
I would say not be open minded to change or learning something new. The thing that keeps coming up for me, over the years is a thirst for more knowledge- wanting to learn more and more. Being curious and asking questions is something that many businesses and leaders are looking for in an employee. In marketing everything is changing with technology, so you have to be fluid, as well. We all know the Market is like this and in turn so is real estate as a direct result. Another key with real estate, is you have to be a people person who can create a loyal customer base. This way, no matter what the market is doing, if you have loyal buyers who use you to sell or purchase a home, you can survive, no matter what times are like. Both of these fields will be demanding jobs and are ultimately what you make of them! Best of luck!!

I learned more becoming an adjuster through all lines, being available to 30 plus states. Realtors don’t technically have to apply through universities. As they have places that train. Have to be people savvy, it depends on the personality of yourself that will match how high you’re trying to go. Always watch market trends. Investing in real estate can be tricky and time consuming without the proper knowledge. Example if you buy into a foreclosure house and can work your way around the liens from those prior then re listing shouldn’t be as hard plus minor up keep vs if you buy into a dump then you may have to pay into construction crew, remodel supplies, permits, hvac etc.. you have to also know about the climate whether you’re selling to those or buying in a hazardous areas which become harder to sell otherwise you’ll turn into a slick real estate agent which has its ups and downs. Stock market is again about trends, marketing… what may do good in the first two quarters may not in the third quarter.. Running businesses aren’t as perfect as you think. The whole meaning of replacing people is why they have the phrase at will.. it’s better to invest in lucrative businesses that the world needs, but also it takes components to make those companies thrive. If you run a restaurant, you will need a pos machine.
Thank you for sharing that information! I’d love to hear more about how you got started in your career. I'm interested in your perspective on investing in general.

My advice is to be open to feedback from others. There are a lot of times where you may think you know all the answers, but there are a lot of people out there with more experience and knowledge than you! Validate the information shared, and don't be a know it all.
I appreciate this, thank you for the advice.

This is a great question!
My field is project management working in IT. Newcomers can get overwhelmed with the amount of work there is to do in a short period of time.
One mistake I commonly see is saying "yes" to all requests in an effort to please management. It's better to develop time-management as well as the ability to set realistic expectations and come in with the ability to underpromise and overdeliver.
There's a lot more, but this would be my top one to start with.
Good luck!
